EUMelaReg Retreat 2024 in Sofia

Bulgaria hosted this year's two-day EUMelaReg retreat, which took place from 25-26 January in Sofia. The two-day meeting brought together more than 40 leading oncologists and specialists from 17 European countries, representatives of the participating countries in the world's largest specialised platform for melanoma patients.

"By proving the level of oncological medicine in our country, we are opening doors for more clinical trials to include Bulgaria and more international projects. I am proud of the results we have achieved and the whole team we have built," said Dr. Gavrilova, coordinator of the register for Bulgaria.

This year's meeting, shaped by a new format and expanded participation, featured a more diverse and lively discussion. The interactive workshops and smaller forums facilitated active engagement, fostering knowledge sharing. Among other things, the results of the registry's work and the performance of the member states in the ongoing projects were presented at the meeting based on the systematised experience of an extensive database. In addition, three new projects were adopted, the development and finalisation of which are now being driven forward in project groups.

A notable event during the scientific conference was the city tour of Sofia, which introduced the rich history and culture of the city. The day ended with a festive dinner in a traditional restaurant with delicious Bulgarian specialities.

We would like to thank BADO (Bulgarian Association of Dermato Oncology) for the exceptional hospitality. We appreciate the commitment and look forward to future meetings.
