EUMelaReg SDAC & IDC Retreat

At the end of February 2023, after months of online exchange, there was finally the opportunity for a face-to-face meeting again. The two EUMelaReg committees SDAC (Scientific and Data Access) and IDC (IT and Database) met for the second time in Berlin for the tried and tested two-day EUMelaReg SDAC & IDC Retreat.

Reports were given on successes and challenges as well as current projects. Afterwards, the focus was on future projects and their feasibility as well as the corresponding adaptation of the electronic database. There was a very positive atmosphere, and everyone contributed their ideas and experiences. It was a very constructive meeting where important decisions were made and projects were approved. Since the meeting was held in Berlin, we took the opportunity to visit the Reichstag building including the dome. There we had an interesting, guided tour and learned a lot about the history of the building. From the roof terrace we enjoyed the view of the illuminated Berlin in the evening.

It was nice and important for the discussions to have met again in person. We are already looking forward to the next meeting.
